Anyone joining this session should leave with a comprehensive understanding of generative AI tools and their different use cases within an education setting. As schools grapple with formulating policies/guidelines for generative AI, this session will serve as a useful starting point with plenty of examples and references.

In this session, Michelle will outline the high impact solutions that the Primary English specialist team at HFL Education have created in collaboration with schools to solve challenges they face in improving standards in writing at KS/2. It will focus on exploring how HFL Education’s evidence-informed programmes have successfully closed gaps in literacy and language skills, including writing stamina, spelling, vocabulary, punctuation, handwriting, and crucially, writing enjoyment. This short presentation will also offer insights into recent high profile reports focusing on best practice regarding writing, and will offer encouragement to leaders to reflect upon their current writing curriculum and consider whether it truly meets the needs of today’s learners, or if it would benefit from subtle – or even radical – adjustment in order to ensure that all pupils ‘win at writing’!
