TACKLING THE ENERGY CRISIS
eEnergy helps Bellevue Place Education Trust take back control of their energy bills.
The Challenge
eEnergy were engaged by Bellevue Place Education Trust to help them identify ways to cut energy consumption, costs and carbon across their estate of nine primary schools in London and Berkshire.
The Trust is committed to achieving net zero by 2030, having signed up to the Let’s Go Zero pledge. What’s more, against a background of spiralling energy costs, the Trust urgently needed to take action to eliminate energy waste and reduce its reliance on expensive energy purchased from the grid.
The Solution
eEnergy installed MY ZeERO intelligent energy monitoring across the nine schools in the Trust to provide granular visibility of their energy use. This data quickly identified an opportunity to reduce energy consumption through the installation of LED lighting.
eEnergy also recommended installing onsite solar generation to allow them to generate their own low cost clean energy whilst reducing their reliance on purchasing expensive electricity from the grid.
The Result
MY ZeERO intelligent metering has been installed and highlights any energy wastage such as out-of-hours consumption, helping to engage staff and pupils in behavioural changes to reduce energy usage by around 10%.
Upgrading five schools to LED lighting has immediately reduced lighting energy costs by 60%, reducing carbon emissions by 30 tonnes per year and saving the Trust £330,000 over 10 years. These savings have been fully validated by MY ZeERO.
eEnergy is now installing onsite solar generation across five schools in the Trust. This is expected to deliver a further net 20 year saving of £316,000, providing low cost clean energy at a fraction of the cost of energy purchased from the grid.
“Lighting was the first step in our journey together and with MY ZeERO being installed in every school, the eEnergy team are the experts to help us identify further energy saving opportunities.” – Mark Greatrex, Chief Executive of Bellevue, Place Education Trust
