Ashley Winters began his teaching career in Birmingham in 1997 and has spent nearly three decades shaping educational practice across the city and beyond. Moving into senior leadership by 2004, he developed a strong track record in school and system leadership, recognised for his thoughtful, valuesdriven approach and commitment to inclusive education.

Between 2010 and 2022, Ashley served three headships across Birmingham and Walsall, leading diverse school communities through periods of challenge and transformation with a clear focus on culture, equity and sustainable improvement. He is currently Director of Primary Education for Washwood Heath Multi Academy Trust, where he leads the Trust’s inclusion framework, with strategic responsibility for attendance, behaviour, safeguarding and SEND.

Alongside his executive leadership work, Ashley brings extensive governance experience. He has served as a parent governor, became Chair of Governors at a local secondary school in 2021, and currently chairs an Interim Advisory Board within another local trust. He holds the National Qualification for School Inspectors (2013) and a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Management (2023). Ashley is also a member of the Learnus Advisory Group, contributing to interdisciplinary dialogue between education, neuroscience and wider professional communities through lectures and mediated workshops.
