Shane Ierston has led the Great Schools Trust (GST) since September 2021, having previously spent nine years as founding Principal of King’s Leadership Academy Warrington. GST now comprises eight academies, five secondary, two primary and one alternative provision. Its newest member, King’s Leadership Academy Wavertree opened this September.
In March 2022 the Department for Education appointed GST and King’s Warrington as a national Behaviour Hub, enabling the trust to advise schools nationwide on behaviour and culture. GST also leads work on educational artificial intelligence, CredimusAI, launched in 2024, automates feedback, cuts teacher workload and supports staff wellbeing including retention.
Shane is a National Leader of Education, a member of the DfE North West Regional Advisory Board and served five years as an Ofsted inspector. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute and remains focused on ensuring every child, whatever their starting point can access high-quality opportunities and achieve success.
