Tom Preston is Head of IT at Future Academies, bringing over 25 years’ experience in education technology, having progressed from service desk through to senior leadership roles. He has led major transformation programmes across multi-academy trusts, including the consolidation of Microsoft 365 estates, full network infrastructure replacement, and the standardisation of IT services across multiple schools. Tom’s focus is on building secure, resilient, and scalable systems that support teaching and learning, while developing high-performing teams and reducing operational risk. He is particularly passionate about ensuring IT operates as a reliable, “invisible” enabler of excellent education, combining strong technical governance with a deep understanding of school environments.
